In 2003, a fan approached me, he wanted to take my picture; in 2006, we became flatmates – I was working on my exhibition at the Michael Hoppen gallery, finishing my little handmade hats and head decorations that I created for my self portraits Polaroids . The exhibition was very successful, top collectors bought them …In 2007, I created a special hat/veil with a new idea and with little jewels that I wore at the opening of a club night I run at the Cafe Royal in Picadilly. Then, very similar hat designs started to appear on heads like Gaga and other singers, I told him to stop, but it he went on - Around the same time, I was put in touch with a record company executive , Apparently my song Hé! Stranger, changed his life in the 80′s. He had been a fan and wanted to listen to my new songs, he was working with some singers mentioned: I told him they could wear my styles but that my music had substance, it would never compare…From then on, nearly each post/idea put on FB has been used ( copycat or mixed in with other of my ideas, like a composite ) in videos or in photos. I mean check my pictures when I was 25, who does it remind you of ? Or rather, who is it reminiscent of ? Hundreds of then adoring teenagers, keep reminding me they had pinned these photos onto their bedroom walls – Of course they are visual marketing ideas, and noone can steal my soul as a singer or, but the dishonest attitude of some so called fans in the business is a reflection of our times, where greed prevails over human respect and spiritual quest. It’s a big issue, our society has lovered its standards, where intelligence, education and manners are nearly considered obsolete. My next album will be a reflection on these matters.
Paying hommage would have been good form.
The photo with the veil
is taken at one of my Amerotic Salon performance in Nov 2011, where some poems from L’Ame Erotique Album were also performed.
